Support to Life: Internationally renowned humanitarian aid organization founded with the principal objective of ensuring access to basic rights and needs for individuals and communities affected by natural or human-made disasters. Founded in 2005 by 5 women academics and humanitarian aid workers, STL carries out activities in Emergency Response and Preparedness, Refugee Support, Child Protection and Capacity Building in Civil Society, to improve the living conditions of people affected by natural or human-made disasters in Turkey.

STL supports access to basic rights and essential needs; aims to eliminate the risks for children living under dire conditions giving priority to seasonal agricultural workers; provides immediate aid services at times of disasters. Besides, STL works towards a civil society well-prepared to disasters.

STL works with the support of a headquarter based in Kadıköy/Istanbul and with field offices located in 12 provinces in Turkey (Adana, Adıyaman, Ankara, Batman, Diyarbakır, Hatay, İstanbul, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Mersin, Şanlıurfa) as well as mobile teams.

The Local Humanitarian Forum (LHF) is the core coordination body of local and national NGOs for the earthquake response.  Hosted by Support to Life (STL), LHF currently consists of 58 members.

LHF is focused on strengthening the collective response of local and national NGOs and enabling their linkage with the OCHA coordination system, creating equitable relations and strategic partnerships with international organizations, promoting access to humanitarian funding for local and national NGOs, and supporting a rapid and inclusive recovery process.

We are currently seeking an LHF Hub Lead to strive to enhance field coordination as well as provide for systematic linkages to the OCHA coordination structure through engagements at inter-hub and inter-sector levels.

We are looking for a teammate who lives or has the opportunity to live in Adıyaman to work as Local Humanitarian Forum/LHF Hub Lead.

   

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Province level mapping of local and national civil society organizations
  • Facilitating the alignment of local and national organizations with the OCHA 3W system
  • Identifying the coordination needs of local organizations and addressing gaps in the coordination system.
  • Linking of local NGOs to the OCHA hub and sector level coordination
  • Province level stakeholder mapping
  • Facilitating engagement with key stakeholders at the hub level
  • Identifying learning needs and enhancing humanitarian capacity of local organizations
  • Developing and organizing capacity events at the hub level as needed
  • Following the context and changing humanitarian needs at the province levelLiaising with all key local stakeholders to introduce LHF and the network of local and national organizations on the ground
  • Drafting monitoring reports on coordination, capacity, and partnerships at the province level
  • Organization of bilateral and multi-party meetings as needed
  • Reporting to the LHF Forum coordinator

 

Qualifications
  • University degree in social sciences, political science, international relations or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in humanitarian settings
  • Solid experience of engagement in the humanitarian coordination mechanism
  • Good working relationship with all stakeholders (donors, UN agencies, INGOs and public authorities)
  • Proven communication, coordination, presentation, networking and advocacy skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in an insecure operating environment
  • Strong management, mentoring and leadership experience
  • Excellent oral and written Turkish and English communication skills
  • Good research skills and academic ability
